Welcome to the Drugs Research Network for Scotland
Established in August 2017 and funded by the Scottish Government, the Drugs Research Network for Scotland (DRNS) aims to develop collaborative research across disciplines, organisations and countries to generate high-quality evidence that will inform developments in policy and practice. DRNS is a collaboration of:
- academics,
- peer researchers,
- policy-makers,
- service planners & providers,
- people with lived / living experience of problem drug use, and
- affected family members.
Membership
DRNS membership is free and open to anyone with an interest in drug and alcohol research. We provide activities and events to promote the emerging drugs research community, as well as professional and career development opportunities. Applications are especially welcome from peer researchers, Master and PhD students, Early Career Researchers and practitioners seeking to develop skills and contacts.

Events
We deliver a range of events for people who create and use Scottish drugs research. These include seminars to share emerging research findings; our annual conference; and consultation events where people affected by problem drug use, practitioners and experts inform priorities for future projects.
